Frequently Asked Questions

I have very tight shoes. Can I still use your insoles?

Our insoles are 60 mm to 90 mm thick depending on your requirement. If your shoes are very tight, we might try to fit them by removing its existing insole. It is advisable to bring your shoes you need insoles for when you come for the diagnosis

My doctor has asked me to wear silicon insoles. Do you have them?

We will soon be having our range of silicon insoles or gel insoles; Podiatech, France, has the most superior quality product. But, silicon insoles do not provide any correction to the foot posture. They just provide cushioning. Most doctors prescribe silicon insoles due to lack of an alternative. Our technology is very new in India and we are creating awareness drives to let the medical community know about our product.

Are these insoles only for those who have a foot problem?

Certainly not! Orthotic insoles are for everyone. Even if you don’t have a foot problem, orthoic insoles are great to evenly distribute weight pressure on your feet and a preventive measure to getting foot deformities in future. Everyone benefits from the shock absorption these insoles provide.

What are the benefits of using a custom made orthotic insole against a pre-fabricated orthotic insole?

Pre-fabricated orthotic insoles can be used when you don’t have a foot problem and just need general comfort. They are made in standard shapes and are cheaper than custom made insoles. Podiapro also markets Podiatech’s pre-fabricated insoles that have support for 3 arch types (high, low, medium).

Custom made orthotic insoles are designed for your foot. The design comprises the size, shape, sheet materials and even colour. Beyond that, it provides correction to your foot posture in the exact measure as required. The insole is further customized by adding correction elements or postings that stabilize and reinforce the mould. Finally, the insole is grinded in layers for weight offloading and a fine finish.

Can I use the same pair of insoles for multiple pairs of shoes?

Yes, you can use the same pair in various shoes. It’s as simple as plug and play.

How long will the insoles last?

The insoles will last for a period of 12 to 18 months. We could make them last longer by adding more reinforcements but that will make them harder and uncomfortable.

Can I wash my insoles?

You can wash your insoles in cold water. Washing them in hot water might alter their form.

Will I experience pain when I first wear these insoles?

You might experience discomfort at start since the insoles are realigning the bones, tendons, muscles inside your foot and they have to adapt to a new alignment. This is normal and once they adapt, the discomfort disappears. It might take up to 3 to 4 weeks for the discomfort to cede. Persistent discomfort beyond this period may necessitate adjustment to your orthoses.

How should I start using your orthotic insoles?

In most cases, orthotic insoles will provide immediate relief from pain in the foot. However, sometimes you might experience discomfort or even increased pain when the insoles are significantly correcting the posture of the foot, as your feet are required to adapt to the new alignment. Since your feet and legs have worked abnormally over a number of years, you might find it strange at the beginning when you start using the orthotics.

So you should not wear orthotics all day from day one, but gradually increase the duration for which they are worn by half an hour per day. If you experience pain in your feet or lower back, we recommend you wear the insoles for no more than one hour a day for a week and then gradually increase the duration of usage. When you can use the insoles comfortably for 3 to 4 hours, that’s when you can start using them all day.

For Sports insoles, you should use them only to walk for a week. Once your feet are comfortable walking in the insoles, then you can gradually start using them while playing your sport.

Will orthotic insoles correct my foot problem?

Orthotic insoles correct the position and motion of your foot. This may prevent the development of pain and disability and the development of additional deformity. Orthotics will not change the underlying structure of the adult foot. If the orthotics are not worn, abnormal foot function will return.

Do you have insoles for children?

Yes, we have insoles for all ages starting 5 and above.

Who can benefit from your insoles?

How much time would I need to get a pair made?

We need 10 minutes to 15 minutes to understand your foot bio-mechanics and get an instant mould of your feet in their correct posture using our state-of-the-art silicon and vacuum based machine . Post that, we work on the insole and ready it for delivery within 1 business day.

Can’t I buy those available off the shelf. These are made specifically to support your unique foot type. They give you just the right amount of arch support your foot requires. A custom made orthosis will ensure that your weight is evenly distributed on the soles of your feet and that it absorbs shock based on your activity type and level. We sell off the shelf pre-fabricated insoles as well. But if you can, you must get a customized pair made. It’s the real thing.

What kind of materials go into your insoles?
